How far along? 28 Weeks 4 days

Sleep: Suddenly I find myself struggling to get comfortable. I went to bed last night before Pat and he came in and asked who I was wrestling… I had every spare pillow in our house trying to come up with an arrangement that I could live with for the night.

Stretch Marks: I sadly noticed a couple new ones this week…

Best Moment this Week: My SIL stopped at Costco (we don’t have one very close here) and brought me a bunch of food I can actually eat. Thanks Alisha!

Miss Anything? Cereal. I dream about eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Movement:  I’m pretty sure Baby B flipped again. It was painful and it felt like my stomach was so tight it might burst open. Hopefully he’ll stay put.

Gestational Diabetes: The first week wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It’s a pain, but necessary, and can honestly say I haven’t eaten anything I shouldn’t have. My numbers were still quite high at times, and after going over my log at the Doctors office, and not understanding why my numbers spiked when they did, they decided to continue what I’m doing for one more week and if they don’t consistently stay down, they will put me on a medication.

They don’t know exactly what causes gestational diabetes, but they have some clues. The placenta supports the baby as it grows. Hormones from the placenta help the baby develop. But these hormones also block the action of the mother's insulin in her body. This problem is called insulin resistance. Insulin resistance makes it hard for the mother’s body to use insulin. And since I have two placenta’s it’s more difficult for my body to handle everything on top of taking care of 3 people.
